As your baby grows your uterus expands to as much as 1000 times its original size. This amount of growth when centred in one area affects the balance of your body and may cause discomfort. Posture often changes during pregnancy and most women begin to lean backward in the later months of pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Weakness of the abdominal muscles can also cause back pain. During pregnancy the supportive abdominal muscles become stretched and may weaken, causing back pain.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pregnancy hormones may also contribute to back pain.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">What you can do?<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To help prevent or ease back pain be aware of how you stand, sit, and move. Here are some tips that may help.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Wear low heeled shoes with a good arch support<\/li>\n<li>Avoid lifting heavy objects.<\/li>\n<li>Do not bend from the waist to pick up objects- keep your back straight and bend hips and knees.<\/li>\n<li>Watch your posture in sitting.<\/li>\n<li>Attend Ante Natal PILATES Classes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Your physiotherapist will instruct you on exercises to help strengthen your core abdominal muscles.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">GENERAL ACHES AND PAINS:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the weeks following delivery many women experience neck and back pain.
